Do you believe that people accused of crimes deserve all of these rights or just some of them? Why or why not?

I believe most of the rights given by amendments are fair and should be given. Except for the last one, "Only a grand jury can indict someone with a death penalty". I think that crimes against humanity are ones to be punished with death, by any court of law. Murder, Thievery and Terrorism are all crims that should come with a death penalty. No matter who is charging it.  The world is full of Good people and Evil people. That's what it comes down to, everyone falls into a Good, or Evil. Those who are Evil should be a given a death penalty and those who are good should live happily knowing the Evil ones are being taken care of.

Amendments 2-4 Questions

1. Describe one argument for and one argument against gun control. What is your opinion on the issue?
•   Having control over your own usage/owning of guns could be a good thing. It would make it so that the average person would have defense in the case of a robbery or kidnapping.
•   I think that having gun control is a  bad thing. Guns are dangerous, and can hurt people. The world currently isn't in a state where we need civilians having guns at every corner.

2. Do you think it is fair to force people to open their homes to soldiers during wartime? Why or why not?
•   It's not fair at all to make people open their homes during wartime. Home-makers shouldn't have to make homes for anyone but their families, and people have a right to own their own property, making them open their homes basically takes that right away.

3. Describe a situation in which the police might be able to obtain a warrant to search a house or a building.
•   A situation where a police officer or other official would be able to obtain a warrant to search a house or building would probably be in a court case if they were searching the home/owned business of  a victim or accused.

Importance of the first amendment

The first amendment comes into play in everyday life. Presonally, I like to consider myself an "Activist" or a; "An especially active, vigorous advocate of a cause, especially a political cause.". Without the first Amendment, I wouldn't be able to express my opinions so openly. I wouldn't have the right to dispute, debate or protest anything.

True & False 2

  • Give a speech before a large gathering of people and express opinions about the president's abilities - This is pretected by the first amendment. The first amendment guarantees that "Freedoms of religion, speech and the press, assembly, and petition."
  • Write a letter for the editorial page of a newspaper in which you criticize a state legislator. - This statement is also protected by the first amendment. The first amendment says; "Finally, they can petition or complain to the government about things they do not like."
  • Circulate a petition calling for the repeal of an unpopular law. This is also protected by the statement of; "Circulate a petition calling for the repeal of an unpopular law."
  • Post your opinion on your blog about an issue being discussed at a local school board meeting. - This is the last action protected by the first amendment. "people are allowed to express their opinions"
